JUNE 2008

The Brookville YMCA will be hosting five races in the month of June. Below you will find a brief description of the races the Brookville YMCA will be hosting.

7 June 2008 - Millcreek Adventure Race

The Millcreek Adventure Race has three different divisions: Solo: one athlete completing all legs of the race, Complete: two athletes entering each leg of the race together, or Relay: two to six athletes individually completing a leg of the race. However two athletes must race together on the orienteering and canoeing legs.

The race consists of many different events. It begins at the Millcreek boat launch at 7 AM with the first event being and 8 mile run which brings the contestants back to the Millcreek boat launch. The next event is a 2 mile swim once again beginning and ending at the boat launch. The next leg is the 23 mile bike race which ends at MacBeth cabins parking lot in Cook Forest. There, racers enter the water for the 12 mile canoe/kayak. This brings the racers back to the Millcreek boat launch. At that point, the racers leave the boat launch for the 11 mile orienteer. The orienteer course ends at Frozen Toe (Corsica area) and the final 9.5 mile run takes racers to the Brookville YMCA which is the end of the race!

The Millcreek Race takes you through Cook Forest State Park which lies in scenic northwestern Pennsylvania. Once called "The Black Forest," the area is famous for its stands of old growth forest.
